On/Off

I found a photo of a group of nurses posing erect on the hospital entrance steps, obviously. The group is almost entirely female and all the people are portrayed making the fascist salute. Nothing strange given the period, except that the curious thing is that the whole group greets with the left arm outstretched.

The negative shot at the time of impressing the card? … Or a small gesture of rebellion by the photographer? We will never know!
